After biting the bullet and taking on my dreams once again of being a flight attendant, I discovered that Emirates was looking for a intake of new people. I applied online and within a few weeks I was contacted with an invitation to attend the assessment day in Brisbane.
For weeks I was preparing for the day, I bought a nice suit, stockings, earrings, shoes... the whole nine yards. Trust me it is worth it in the end. I went to that job interview with a new sense of confidence because I felt comfortable in my skin, I felt like I gave my appearance 110%. I even practiced my hair in many different styles, bought a new make-up range and got my nails manicured for the day.
Upon arrival of the day, I discovered there was not a large amount of people at the assessment day, a few of us girls estimated around 50-70 people. Everyone was dressed to the nines... well most of us were. Some girls wore too short of dresses and skirts, some wore to low cut tops and others even forgot their stockings... Uh oh.

Just a little advice to anyone thinking of going to an Emirates assessment day, make sure you look the part! Do your research and wear some of the things they want you to wear on the job (earrings, lipstick and stockings), your hair can either be in a bun or a ponytail, make this as neat as possible and make sure your make-up is simple and not too heavy. Lastly... wear fitting clothes that show your figure!! But DO NOT wear something that is shorter than your knees.
The day consisted of videos and discussions, then assessments and going through a series of elimination rounds, eventually we were down to 9 people at the end of the day and we were provided with a letter of congratulations, advising us of the next part of the interview process. We were required to book into the interviews the following week where we sit down with the assessors and answer their questions.
After this is done, you are told to wait 6 weeks to hear from the HR department to see whether you have got the job. My call took just on 4 weeks... it was a killer.
But I am now an employee of Emirates Airline with the estimated start date of 9th May and I am extremely excited.
